Gary Lising's Humor
Just bought this book 2 weeks ago at National Bookstore. I was buying things for my kid when I passed by at the book section and this one caught my attention when I saw the name Gary Lising on it. I am a fan of his humor. I scanned the book quickly and then bought it (btw it was on sale.) For me it was worth buying. Some jokes are shallow, some are deep and there are some that are deeper that took me a while to comprehend, some are green jokes. Most of it are political jokes. Funny but true. They say laughter is the best medicine, I agree.
Here are some excerpts from this book:
♦ Most of our politicians are persons who talk big and perform small.
♦ Our Senate and House of Representatives have a "conscience bloc." They block their conscience.
♦ Imagination makes a politician think he's a statesman.
♦ Don't lend money to friends. It gives them amnesia.
♦ Our Constitution guarantees us free speech. It doesn't guarantee listeners.
♦ Our politicians never make the same mistake twice. Every session they find some new mistake to make.
♦ To err is human, to blame it on someone is politics.
♦ If lovers celebrate Valentine's Day, what do lonely men celebrate? Palm Sunday.
♦ Let's all hope that our elected public servants will not turn out to be public serpents.
♦ It is better to stop when the traffic light turns yellow to avoid accidents - people who
speed toward the yellow light are not yellow, but turn red eventually.
♦ My neighbor couldn't afford divorce so he shot his wife.
♦ Nowadays, a girl with a lot of hidden talent usually wears clothes that reveal it.
♦ The trouble about public debt is that private individual has to pay for it.
♦ The weakness of public opinion is that too many people express it privately.
♦ Our politicians drink at the fountain of knowledge - but most of the just gargle it.
♦ In the Philippines, if you are illiterate, you cannot vote. If your character is bad, you cannot vote. You can
get elected but you cannot vote.
♦ Most politicians say what they think without thinking.
I hope our politicians and everyone can read this book and learn their mistakes the funny way. I think this was written not to offend someone but to make us realize what's really going on around us. (Bato-bato sa langit, ang tamaan... sana matauhan) ☺
Live, love, laugh.... life is too short, make the most out of it. ♥
